Cornell Capa 1918-2008
Cornell Capa, a giant in the field of photojournalism, has died at the age of 90. A huge loss indeed. Please travel over to Daniel Milnor's blog, Smogranch, for a little perspective on what this means. This loss just doubles the one the profession suffered just on March 20th, when Capa's fellow Magnum member and influential anti-war photographer Phillip Jones Griffiths died at age 72. Both contributed vast amounts of time and energy to better their profession, but more importantly the world. Get links here, for the Aperture interview before his death, a tribute on Magnum's blog, and a very nice picture taken by beginning photojournalist Alice Smeets, at his apartment in London.
